Leon Johnson

Art Vs Analysis: Using left-brain tools to accomplish right-brain beauty

Honest portraits with a fine art flair! When subjects step in front of Leon Johnson’s lens, they quickly know they’re in for something very kind, very sincere. What they may not know is Leon is an Army man, who borrows a bit of ‘Old Masters’ painting style, and mixes modern light and creative vision to create incredible beauty.

Leon is anxious to show Dallas PPA how he goes from inspiration to print—the artistic journey from imagination to reality. He thinks of his camera as his tool to romance the image. He’s always been a prolific photographer, always shooting whether or not he is being paid for the resulting images. This keeps his mind’s eye fresh and always in motion, plus it assures he is learning something new with every shoot.

You may notice in his work, he likes varying degrees of surreal style in his images—not so tack sharp, but full of depth and dimension to lure the viewer in, and to help his subjects see themselves in ways they never imagined!

We begin at 7:00 p.m. CST
