January Meeting
The Road Less Traveled: Making 2026 Your Best Year Yet
with Sheldon Tate, Ed.D.

What is the most important thing a person can do to shift the trajectory of their journey? Are we meant to blindly follow the will of others with no options or ability to alter our direction? Does life and work simply just happen to us, or is there another path? Our keynote speaker believes that our society and our workforce need a necessary disruption, and the world of photography is no exception. In an industry defined by shifting technology, evolving client expectations, and ever-changing creative trends, photographers can't just react to change-they have to be ready to navigate it with confidence. This keynote equips DPPA members with the clarity, mindset, and motivation needed to thrive in even the most complex circumstances. Through compelling stories and energizing insights, attendees will gain a deeper awareness of their unique power to become change agents. They'll also strengthen the creative and professional bonds that can transform the DPPA guild from a network into a trusted support system. Most importantly, participants will walk away with a practical, adaptable framework for moving through any shift or challenge-whether personal or professional, individual or team-oriented, chosen or forced.
Join us for this inspirational message, and become the author of your best year yet!
About Tate
Sheldon Tate, Ed.D., is a nationally recognized higher education professional and transformational leader whose impact spans more than two decades across a wide range of disciplines-including recreation, well-being, student affairs, executive coaching, talent development, change management, officiating, research, culture building, strategic planning, and project management.
Known for his passion, engaging personality, and ability to inspire others, Dr. Tate has built his career on intrinsic motivation, relationship-building, and personal growth. He is deeply committed to making a meaningful impact-just as others did for him at pivotal moments in his own journey.
As the founder of WAYHere, Dr. Tate invites today's leaders to engage in a necessary disruption-one that challenges traditional approaches to learning, leadership, and personal development. His work is rooted in the belief that meaningful growth begins by meeting people where they are and walking with them toward where they want to go.
Dr. Tate often likens his approach to that of a GPS: before a path forward can be charted, one must first understand their current location. Whether working with individuals or organizations, he helps clients clarify their vision, identify the barriers, and co-create a path that's both effective and authentic to who they are.
