Join the excitement as the Dallas PPA presents the 2015 Little Red Schoolhouse… of ROCK!

If you shoot portraits, headshots, products or events - or if you want to learn to be more creative - or just like music and having fun, this event is for you.  We are going to capture the Rock ‘n Roll experience with a live band.  Shoot and create album cover art, complete with shots of the band members and creative artwork to develop an eye-grabbing CD-selling image.

You’ll have sessions to shoot musical instruments and props and end up shooting a live concert.  What can be more fun?

Who Should Attend?

The event is hosted by the Dallas Professional Photographers Association and is open to both members and non-members.

The theme is Rock ‘n Roll but that is only the environment in which we will be learning more about portraits, head shots, product photography and event photography.

What do I get for that?

The fee paid covers tuition, a welcome reception, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, a swag bag with all kinds of goodies and VIP access to the free concert on Sunday.

I’m not a member of the Dallas PPA.  Does that make a difference?

Non members will pay a slightly higher rate for the event.  For those that qualify for Dallas PPA membership, and who wish to apply, you will receive one year free membership.

What about the hotel?

We have a special contract price with the Choctaw Casino for rooms in the brand new luxury Sky Tower.  The rooms are $169 a night.  Visit the casino website to see all the amenities available in each room.

Swag Bag? What Swag Bag?

Every attendee will receive a swag bag full of goodies.  It’s our way of saying Thank You.  A few lucky people will receive very special swag bags that will be the envy of the event.  Now we can’t tell you what’s in them - it’s a secret.

Will I have time to shoot?

Yes, the agenda is a blend of classroom time and hands-on sessions so do bring your camera gear.

What about models?

Highway-31 is our band for Little Red Schoolhouse and they will not only entertain us, but they are also our models.  They have graciously offered to do this for us and part of their compensations is images from the event that they can use for promotional purposes.  As long as you’re willing to provide the band with retouched images for their use, you’ll be able to shoot them.  There is no charge for model time, just the use of your images.

What about copyright on my images?

As the photographer you maintain the copyright for your images.  For images shot with the band, either individual members, the group or the performance, you provide a license to the band for them to use the images in their promotion.

Please remember that images shot under the direction of an instructor in a class are not permitted to be used in PPA competition.

What about model releases?

All the band members will sign model releases, copies of which will be available to attendees.

What if my plans change?  Can I cancel?

Of course.  We know that events in your life don’t always fit in the calendar so you can cancel out of the event.  You can get a 100% refund if you cancel prior to July 6, 2015.  After that date we can not offer any refunds.  At that point we are contractually obligated to the hotel for the number of attendees.  Note, if you do need to cancel, be sure to cancel your hotel reservation too.

I’m a PPA member.  Can I get a Merit for attending?

Yes, PPA members who are paid attendees of the event can receive 1 PPA Merit.  You must include your PPA number on the registration form.

You provide breakfast, what about other meals?

Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday are included in your tuition.  For any other meals The Choctaw Casino and Resort has great choices for you.  You can go upscale in the 1832 Steakhouse - reservations are recommended.  Or, try one of the other great dining experiences on the property: Americo’s, Blue Moon Cafe, Butterfields Buffet, Dixon’s Grill, Durant Station Deli, Gilley’s, Jackpot Java, Red Dragon Asian Cafe, Smashburger and Tomatillo Mexican Grill.  We don’t think you’ll go hungry.

What’s this about a live concert?

We are delighted to have the band Highway-31 as the focus of our theme “Rock ‘n Roll”.  They will be our models and the subject of much of our work.  In the end, they’ll plug in their amps and present live concert.  As a paid attendee you have a VIP pass to this event.  But it doesn’t stop there.  Invite your friends and family to attend - it’s our way of saying thank you to them too.
